ORLANDO, Fla. (July 31, 2008) Universal Orlando Resort has named Alice Norsworthy as its new Executive Vice President of Marketing and Sales. Ms. Norsworthy succeeds Gretchen Hofmann, who retired earlier this year.
In her new role, Ms. Norsworthy will oversee Universal Orlando's Marketing and Sales divisions and will report to Tom Williams, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for Universal Parks & Resorts. She comes to Universal from Royal Caribbean International, where she served as Senior Vice President of Marketing. Prior to Royal Caribbean International, she held a variety of senior roles at Walt Disney World.
"Alice has very strong experience in the tourism industry and we look forward to her leadership as we grow our business and our brand," said Mr. Williams. "We have great attractions planned in our future and there is enormous opportunity for our destination. We will look to Alice to help us maximize that opportunity."
During her time with Royal Caribbean, Ms. Norsworthy led the development and implementation of the marketing programs that grew the Royal Caribbean brand and launched the Freedom Class of ships. Ms. Norsworthy has been recognized by Advertising Age as one of America's Top 50 marketers, "who broke through the clutter and delivered real impact (and ROI) for their brands." She was also named one of the 100 Most Powerful Women in Travel by Travel Agent Magazine.
